We scour the world for affordable equipment. When we obtain a vintage Ampeg, we remove the electronics and have them serviced by Evil Ed in Chicago, or SLM Electronics, in St. Louis. This service includes cleaning the pots, repair of a non-functioning feature, replacement of out of spec filter caps, and at the same time any less-than-excellent tubes are replaced.
The cabinet is disassembled, cleaned, and any faulty parts (the shock mounts, etc.) are repaired/replaced. We want you to have a unit that you can play right out of the box.
I don't know about you, but we have bought amps over the web in the past that were very different from the way they were described. These amps had dead output tubes, blown speakers, and many other problems. You will NOT have that problem with usedampegs.com! Every amp we sell is played and serviced before it ships.
You may find a slightly cheaper version of the same amp somewhere else on the internet, but we tell you exactly what has been done to ours, and you can be sure that that amp sounds as good as it can and it is in excellent working condition when it leaves here!
Sometimes we can't completely fix an amp in our stock. If the unit is in working condition but one of the features isn't operational, we'll let you know exactly what it is. If the unit is unserviceable, we'll strip it for parts and post them in the parts department.
